Felucca Workshop for Feature Documentary Films is a workshop for directors who are working on creative documentary film projects, in the development stage, and want to broaden the potential of their documentary projects. The workshop will develop the narratives of the projects, explore their aesthetic qualities, investigate their worlds and characters, and compel the directors to explore personal questions and their relationships to their projects.
Felucca Workshop for Feature Documentary Films aims to strengthen the ability of its participants to direct and produce creative, original and innovative documentaries. Besides working on the artistic content of the projects, the workshop will develop the projects production strategies, and discuss several topics including copyrights, contracts, budgets, partnerships, classical and alternative distribution models, to give an insight into the documentary market landscape.
The workshop will be held in the months of October and November 2022, one physical meeting per week. The participants are required to attend all the sessions of the workshop in person. Selected participants will be informed about the detailed schedule of the workshop.

The workshop will be delivered in Arabic.
Workshop Fees
4,000 L.E for each project could be divided into two installments.
Requirements
Applicants must submit one PDF dossier to Feluccafilms.workshopsgmail.com by 21 September 2022, containing the following
- A logline, a treatment including characters, story, world, visual treatment, etc.. 5 pages maximum.
- A directors intention note including how the participants think the workshop could help in their project development. 2 pages maximum.
- A production plan, strategy and the projects timeline. 1 page maximum
- Biographies of directors and other main crew members. It is highly recommended to have a producer already on-board. 1 page maximum.
- In case you have any visual material related to the project excerpts, trailers, photos, etc., it is highly recommended to include them it in the file.
- A link to previous audio-visual work of the director, if available 20 minutes maximum
About the workshop consultants
Nada Riyadh
Nada is an Egyptian director, screenwriter and producer. Her debut feature documentary film Happily Ever After, co-directed with Ayman El Amir, had its premiere at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in 2016. Her short fiction film Fakh The Trap was selected for the Semaine de la Critique at the Festival de Cannes and Toronto International Film Festival in 2019. She is an alumnus of various international film programs including Hot Docs development lab, American Film Showcase, Berlinale Talents, Next Step and Film Independent. In 2016, Nada co-founded the Cairo-based production company Felucca Films. Felucca Films aims to help filmmakers from the MENA region explore and shape their own personal voices by producing unique and original fiction and documentary films.
Ayman El Amir
Ayman is a script consultant who has worked for many programs, labs and institutes including TorinoFilmLab, Full Circle Lab, The Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, International Marrakech Film Festival Atlas Workshop, Cannes Short Film Corner and The Royal Film Commission of Jordan. El Amir consults privately on films and leads several international script development workshops and masterclasses. He has worked on many selection and jury panels, including the selection of Sheffield DocFest Meet Market and on the jury of Carthage Chabaka Workshop. As a producer, his work includes the short fiction Fakh selected for the official competition of Semaine de la Critique at Cannes Film Festival 2019 and TIFF 2019 and the feature documentary Happily Ever After premiered at IDFA 2016.
