Cheetahs have a hard time reproducing in captivity, so the cubs are mostly snatched from the wild while their mothers are hunting. Then they are transported in plastic woven bags on foot, by camel, car, and boat, from Africa, across the narrow Gulf of Aden to Yemen, a journey that can take weeks. Those that survive, are sold as pets to wealthy individuals in the Arab Gulf countries.
