BIOGRAPHY OF ALHAJI AHMAD ALIYU

Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, the immediate former Executive Secretary of Police Trust Fund, and the APCs Gubernatorial Candidate, 2019 and 2023, was born on the 1st day of January, 1970 at Tudun Wada Area in Sokoto Metropolis.

Ahmad Aliyu at an early age was made to study the holy Quran and the rudiments of religion in keeping with the teaching of Islam. The Quranic school prepared him for further tasks in search of knowledge.

He had his primary school education at Magajin Rafi Model Primary School Sokoto from 1977 1983. In the course of his primary school days, Ahmed Aliyu was noted for his outstanding performance in almost all subjects.

His secondary school education was at the Government Secondary School, Yabo where he was from 1983 1989. He obtained his West African School Leaving Certificate in flying colors, which informed his proceeding to the College of Administration of the Polytechnic of Sokoto State. He succeeded in obtaining a clerical officers certificate Account and Audit in 1991.

In the same vein, Ahmad Aliyu went back to the same institution between 1991 1992 where he obtained a certificate in Accounts and Audit CPAA. Ahmad Aliyus thirst for knowledge galvanized him to yet to back to the same polytechnic of Sokoto State between 1992 1994 where he obtained a Professional Diploma in Public Account and Audit DPAA. Energetic Ahmad Aliyu has always been on the lookout for ways to academically enrich and improve himself. He was at the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Marafa in Zamfara State, from 1995 1997, where he successfully studied for and obtained a Higher National Diploma in Local Government Studies.

As an enterprising individual, Ahmad Aliyu was still yearning for more education, that was why he got admitted into the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto from 2000 2001 where he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Management PGDM. Ahmad Aliyu again went back to the same Ivory Tower between 2002 2003 where he successfully crowned his search for knowledge with a Masters in Business Administration MBA.

Ahmad Aliyu has proved to be an unbendable seeker for knowledge despite his overcrowded schedules as an Accounts Executive, an administrator, and a politician of note, his energy in the search for more education was never sapped he kept on moving with distinctly sure steps.

All the certificates Ahmad was able to assemble did not assuage his urge for excellence. He dared the odds and summoned enough courage to enroll as an undergraduate student at the Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto between 2004 2007 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration BSc.

The beautiful array of certificates gathered by Ahmad Aliyu only served as a tonic for him to move deeper in the ocean for more academic laurels. The Nigeria Defence Academy NDA, Kaduna was Ahmads next institution of higher learning between 2009 2010 where he obtained another Masters Degree in International Affairs and Strategic Studies.

It is very clear that, Ahmad Aliyu is indeed well read, well certified, well educated, well exposed, well enlightened and of course well grounded in his chosen career.

As a confirmation of his status as an Accountant, Ahmad Aliyu was a student of the prestigious Nigeria College of Accountancy, Jos between 2010 and 2011, where he passed the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria Examination.
Again, to further consolidate his career as an Accountant, he was conferred with the enviable Fellowship of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria FCNA.

Apart from the four walls of the classrooms, Ahmad Aliyu attended numerous training sessions and workshops that related to his Accounting profession. Ahmad Aliyu attended such as Utilization and Control of Public funds, Financial Management, Treasury Staff on Basic Principles of Local Government to National Development, etc.

As young as Ahmad Aliyu is, he stands tall amongst his peers in terms of education and experience. The roll call of positions he held in accounting clearly indicates that he is indeed at him with his profession.

He was between 1989 1992 the cashier at Jega Local Government Education Authority, Internal Auditor, Sokoto State House of Assembly, 1992 1995, Accountant in Charge of salary at Wamakko Local Government, 1995 1997, Deputy Director Finance and Supply, Sabon-Birni Local Government, 1996 1998 Director Finance and Supply, Kebbe Local Government, 2002 2004, Chief Accountant Local Government Service Commission, 2004 2007.

Ahmad Aliyus glorious career was crowned with his appointment as the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Social Welfare and Culture then Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Health.

Ahmad Aliyu was the Hon. Commissioner Ministry for Social Welfare, Sports and Culture between 2007 - 2011. Also, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Health between 2011 - 2015.

Through his instrumentality as the Commissioner of Social Welfare, the State Government initiated various programmes aimed at empowering the teeming youth across the state. Thousand of unemployed youths were trained in various skills and assisted with funds and working tools to be self-reliant.

Ahmad Aliyu was formidable deputy Governor to the incumbent Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal from 2015 - 2018 which he voluntarily resigned to contest for 2019 Gubernatorial Election in Sokoto State.

Ahmad Aliyu was a formidable deputy to incumbent Governor Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal from 2015 - 2018. Indeed, when he decided to run for governorship in 2019, the incumbent Governor Tambuwal managed to escape with questionable 342 votes against Ahmad Aliyu, to return for a second term.

As a young man, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu is always in harmony with the aspirations of the youths by helping to get them gainfully engaged in one trade or the other.

In the course of his scholarly sojourn, Ahmad Aliyu was involved in many research works and publications, these works were prerequisites to the acquisition of the certificate he was able to obtain. Some of these works include International Control System in Public Organization, with reference to Sokoto State Ministry of Finance Lending Policies in Commercial Banks BON, UBA, AFRIBANK, FIRST BANK, and AIB, Sokoto Internal Control as a tool for Fraud detection and prevention at Sokoto North Local Government, Tax Administration in Sokoto State, a case study of Kebbe Local Government.

As a dynamic young man who is always engaged in the search for and dissemination of knowledge, he at various for presented papers on various topics including Internal Checks in Public OrganizationFirm Protection of Fraud and Embezzlement of Public funds in Public Sector, Treasurer Staff and Work Force in Organizations among others.

Ahmad Aliyu has over the years distinguished himself as a crowd puller, a promising politician, a mobilize, and as someone who identifies with the development of the youths and the society as large. As a mark of his involvement in societal development, various associations and groups had at various times recognized his unmistakable contribution by honoring him. These glowing awards include Certificate of Honorary Studentship by Farfaru Old Boys Association FOBA, 2008 Certificate of Honor by Sokoto Youth Vanguard, Sokoto State, 2008 Merit Award by Nigerian Union of Journalists in recognition of his Immense Contribution toward the development of the Unions Activities amongst many of such honors and awards.

Similarly, Ahmad Aliyu was involved in various assignments and tasks at Adhoc nature as a pointer to his untiring disposition in contributing his level best to the overall development of the state and the country at large.

Such assignments included Grand Patron, Nigerian Association of Nigerian Professional Civil Servant, Sokoto State Chapter Chairman, sub-committee of Local Government and Rural Development Transition Committee, 2007 Patron, Sokoto State Grassroots Development Forum Patron, Youth Movement of Nigeria, Sokoto State Chapter Member, National Steering Committee of the International Aspiration Sports Programme and many of such assignment.

Ahmad Aliyu, youth mobilize, an accomplished accountant, a rising politician, by the grace of God tomorrows Governor, is happily married with children, just as his hobbies remain reading and traveling.
