We are excited to take you on this 5-day FUN Overland Tour into the heart of the Tankwa Karoo! We have explored this area for many years and its stunning scenery makes us return on a regular basis. We will guide you to incredible viewpoints with views over the valleys and thousands of hectares of beautiful and unforgettable scenery.

We have created an off-the-beaten track, off-road tour on gravel, twee-spoor, mountain and sand tracks. You will need a 4x4 or 4x2 high clearance vehicle and the tour is suitable for an off-road camping trailer. All the campsites are rustic with one or two that are wild camps with no facilities. We have selected camp sites that we have visited many times and included some of our secret sites.

We will leave early morning from Clanwilliam from where we will soon get our vehicles off the tar and onto gravel. The tour is about 900 kilometres in total Cape Town and back through the main parts of the Tankwa Karoo areas and ends the four days later in Ceres. We will visit two nature reserves and enjoy the incredible views of the Karoo. There are many hidden gems and we will attempt to visit most of them.

The tour is self-catering, but we will propose a menu closer to the time. You will need to bring your own firewood for the first few days. There are not very few opportunities to buy food or groceries, so stock up for the entire trip

PRELIMINARY ITINERARY

Day 1- We meet up early morning in Clanwilliam you can also choose to camp with us the night before. From here, we take the back roads to the our first campsite. Our campsite is an oasis in the arid landscape and we will spend a relaxed afternoon next to a river.

Day 23- We start the day and take the back roads to the Tankwa Karoo National Park and also visit many of the interesting gems in the park. We will wild camp at one of the remote camp sites in the park. Wild camp or bush camping will be a new experience for many, but it promises to be the start of a great adventure. There are no facilities, no shops, no cell reception, nothing...We will discover a great breakfast spot and then take an amazing drive to the Eastern part of the Tankwa Karoo to Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve

Day 4 - We find another breakfast spot on our way to Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve This is a relaxing short day where we will spend some time in the reserve and stop at some of the one of South Africas most well known farm stalls before we move to the reserve and setup camp at a rustic campsite.

Day 5 - We travel back to Cape Town through the Cederberg Mountains with its spectacular views

A fully serviced reliable vehicle in very good condition
Enough fuel for 600km mainly gravel track, tire repair kit, extra spare tire if possible. The gravel tracks are notorious for tire damage
