THE SAD TRUTH ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF BAYELSA STATE AND WHY IT WILL NOT DEVELOP WITHOUT THE PRIVATE SECTOR INCLUSIVENESS.

A CALL FOR GOVERNMENT APPOINTEES AND ELECTED OFFICIALS TO HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND SYNERGIES WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO FOSTER SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH AND BRING ABOUT HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT.

Being elected or being appointed by the Governor is a call to serve your people and not to raise shoulders or humiliate the less privileged persons the honest truth most politicians are unaware of is that you have only four years to shine and write your name on the soil for the brilliant policies you advocated for and when implemented will effect change in the society.

Whether we all like it or not a strong economy is one whose private sector is bigger than the public sector in terms of creating jobs and revenue generation. If you are not open and receptive as a government employee, you will never enjoy the goodies the private investor is willing to bring to your economy.

Most of our elected or appointed officials in Nigeria today have never been able to manage their families, talk more of managing a ministry or a government parastatal. So how on earth do you shun a private investor entrepreneur who sometimes manages more than ten dozens of persons?. We must all understand that folks from the private sector are risk takers who sometimes spend so much money in consulting, promoting and advertising their business to catch a wider audience.

One thing i have come to understand in my beloved state BAYELSA STATE is that there are no recognised business leaders who has the passion to transmit entrepreneurship skills to the upcoming youth because the system do not encourage them to do that. The state has been consumed by religious and political leaders that is why the only adverts we see on billboards and sign post are those of churches and politics.

Our millennials between the age of 25 to 40 are so unexposed and not informed about the global trend because they are disengaged which makes every young individual in the state being called comrade, honorable and all sorts of names to boost their primitive ego. This is because they are consumed and confined with politics and have not been educated on how to make a living for themselves, hence the call for private sector inclusiveness which will spring up business leaders and teach our youth the act of creating wealth.

Government officials should practice the act of negotiations which is the best craft of an entrepreneur, to negotiate.
When an investor is trying to invest into an economy he finds out about the laws governing the area, the investor tries to get some information from his competitor to know if the environment is business friendly and if hes competitor highlights some of the challenges he is facing the chances of having that potential investor in your economy will be very slim and that will result to loss of potential jobs and loss of internally generated revenue for the state.

When an investor has the interest in investing in an economy the first thing he thinks about is security. securing an investment consist of so many factors, namely security from hoodlums, security from illegal tax recovery agents and security from abrupt laws that will emerge from the legislative house and most importantly providing security for the business premises in which they operate. Business owners are very willing to pay the charges to protect their businesses as long as there is a memorandum of understanding M.O.U.

As a tourism professional i would love to advocate for tourism policing, this will protect tourism enterprises such as hotels, guest houses, clubs, bar, restaurants, fast foods, shopping malls, cinemas, recreational parks, beeches and all sorts. Tourism sector provides lot of opportunities and challenges to its stakeholders. Tourists safety and security plays a vital role to increase the tourists to a location. Tourism policing plays an essential role to build destination image. Governments are making many efforts through tourism policing to protect the safety and security of the domestic and foreign tourist and also to handle overcrowding and enhance responsible tourism.
Hoodlums can be integrated into the state tourism policing outfit which will create legitimate jobs but only a proper training and sensitization can make them secure tourist and tourism enterprises.

Business owners are very aware that there are certain cost for the protection of their businesses and are willing to pay for the security services so they can operate in peace. However this is another medium for the security agencies to generate revenue for themselves. I have been in the private sector for years and i have come to understand that private individuals should be respected because they take the risk the public sector official can not. They have so much to lose but the public official has nothing to lose because the money they play with is not theirs but tax payers money.

Bayelsa must develop and we must make it develop with our creatives and talented youths who are willing to show what they are made of. This can only happen with the private sector inclusiveness.

I will henceforth campaign for the human capacity development of this state, AGGRESSIVELY.
