THE WORD OF GOD IS FOOD

Psalms 119103-104 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding therefore I hate every false way.
David, in the above Psalm, pointed out something very important to note about the word of God.
Observe how he describes it
how sweet are thy words to my taste
This refers to what is eaten and is pleasurable to taste which is a depiction of FOOD. He further explained by saying
sweeter than honey to my mouth.
It is noteworthy that honey is often employed to describe how sweet something is as sweet as honey. However, note that he describes the word of God as sweeter than honey to describe his delight in Gods word.
David wrote this with a background in Moses writing
Deuteronomy 83 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Note that the background of this was that the Israelites were fed with manna while in the wilderness and then stated to them that man doth not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live

Note that Jesus quoted this as recorded by Matthew and Luke when he was tempted of the devil. He was asked to turn stone to bread when he was hungry and Jesus responded by explaining what Moses wrote Deuteronomy 83
Matthew 42-4 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Luke 42-4 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Hence, Jesus explains that the word of God is food to man, that is, what a person eats of and comes alive.
This was further explained by Jesus after he had miraculously fed 5000 men with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes.
John 647-51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Jesus is that living bread, the bread of life which if any man eats believes shall live forever.
John 657-58 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
He explains the true bread, which refers to himself and which if a man eats of, shall live forever.
John 663 It is the spirit that quickeneth the flesh profiteth nothing the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
He explained that the words that he SPOKE unto them are SPIRIT and LIFE. Thus, the depiction of bread and eating signify his words about himself and believing in them respectively.
This explains further what Moses had written in Deuteronomy 3011-15
Deuteronomy 3011-15 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. 15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil

Observe Jobs attitude to the word of God.
Job 2312 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
He esteemed, regarded, and treated the word of God the words of his mouth more than his necessary food.
That said,
Having seen that what Moses wrote was concerning Jesus who is the bread of life which if a man eatsbelieves shall live forever, take note of what Peter wrote in his first epistle.
1st Peter 22 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby
He says to desire the word of God with the same eagerness with which a newborn baby desires to take milk. It is important to note the preceding verses of this.
1st Peter 123-25 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
Peter had explained the fact that a man is born again by the word of God the incorruptible seed which lives and abides forever. Further to this, in verse 25, he stated that the word of the Lord endures forever and that it is by this word that the gospel is preached.

Hence the admonition in 1st Peter 22 to desire the sincere milk of the word refers to the same word the gospel which was preached to the believer. This, therefore, will be growing up in salvation by FEEDING on Gods word which is the same gospel by which you are saved.

Therefore, the word of God is FOOD, that is what a man eats believes to be saved the gospel and this is the same that he should consistently FEED ON to grow up in salvation.
I can therefore develop a regular and consistent attitude of feeding on the word of God for my healing.

The word of God is food to me
I choose to feed on Gods word regularly and consistently.
I desire Gods word with a ready and eager mind.
I esteem Gods word highly, more than my necessary food that I may grow in salvation and also for my healing.
